St Edward's Church: Services

Regular Weekly Services

There is a Family Communion Service with a Sunday School and Youth Group meeting at 11am every Sunday, and Sung Evensong at 6.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. [On the 1st and 3rd Sundays, Evensong is sung at St Margaret's Church, and on the 5th Sunday at St Anne's Church). There is also a celebration of Holy Communion at St Edward's on Wednesday morning at 10am.

11 a.m. Family Communion, Sunday School and Youth Group

This is a traditional Sung Communion Service with choral settings led by a mixed choir of adults, teenagers and children. There is a mixture of traditional hymns and modern worship songs.

The Sunday School meets in the Schoolroom. This was built in 1992 on to the West end of the Church, in response to the increasing size of the Sunday School which at that time was meeting in the Vestry. All ages from newborn to about 11 years are catered for - adults are requested to accompany younger children. The School is not run as a crêche - even the youngest children are fully involved in the activities. The Sunday School joins the main Service at the Offertory. The Youth Group caters for over-11's and meets in the vestry, also joining the main Service at the Offertory.

6.30 p.m. Sung Evensong

This is the traditional Anglican Office of Evensong, with a variety of choral music, once again led by the choir.

Wednesday Morning Communion

The 10 o'clock Service on Wednesdays is a quiet but well attended celebration of the Holy Eucharist. It is followed by a cup of coffee in the vestry.

Taizé Services

Taizé services are held at St Edward's on Wednesday evenings every other month.

Compline

The Office of Compline is sung approximately once a month at St Edward's on Thursday evenings at 9 p.m.
